About Jam Silica Processing

Silis Faravar Jaam company was stablished in Iran, following the discovery of huge reserves of silica, in the form of quartz-arnite, in southern mountains of Torbat-e Jam (located in Khorasan Razavi). After obtaining the mining license in 2009, the company took on a new project focusing on providing raw material for glass industries, and the construction of a factory in Torbat-e Jam industrial town got started.

At the same time, detailed mineral researches were started in cooperation with the German company, AKW, to optimize the processing method and obtain the highest quantitative and qualitative efficiency. In order to satisfy the mentioned conditions, laboratory and semi-industrial tests were performed by the AKW company and a silica sand processing unit, with a capacity of 500,000 tons, was designed.

Factory’s crushing unit, manufactured by Swedish company SANDVIK, is capable of crushing 150 tons of silica stone per hour, with a maximum size of 75cm input material, to produce silica sand with a grain size less than 2mm.

Wet processing unit of the factory, manufactured by AKW company, is also capable of processing 120 tons of crushed silica. By eliminating unwanted components, such as aluminum oxide, iron oxide, titanium oxide and other impurities, this unit can produce silica sand with two stable granulations of 0.1 – 0.4 mm, for use in glass industry, and 0.03-0.1 mm, suitable for industries producing porcelain, ceramic, glaze and other products which need high quality silica.
